News Flash:  As of December 31, you can apply to for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) to get as much as $30 discount on Internet service bill.  

If you are currently receiving the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) discount, tell your Internet provider what service plan fits your needs BEFORE your EBB discount is automatically switched to the ACP discount in late February

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) discount offers as much as $30 off Internet service bill for qualified consumers. The discount amount will show up on your Internet bill.  The U.S. Congress and President established this long-term ACP benefit in November 2021 in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.  It replaced the temporary Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) discount on December 31, 2021.

Broadband is the technical term for the service that provides online access to the Internet. Providers use both Broadband and Internet to describe the service.   

Eligible Consumers Can Receive

  • Up to $30 per month discount on any Home Internet service offered by the providers.
  • Up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal Lands
  • One-time discount of up to $100 for a computer or a tablet (offered in California by human-I-T when buying their broadband service)

Important: You can keep your Lifeline benefit for a mobile phone and get the ACP for a discount on your home Internet service.

Overview and Qualifications

To qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) discount, at least one person in your household must meet one of the criteria listed below: 

You automatically qualify, call the Internet Service Provider before completing the ACP application.
Household with a child enrolled CEP School Designated by the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) 
Recipient of CalFresh (food stamp) or Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) 
Recipient of Medi-Cal or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) 
Student with a Pell Grant 
Recipient of Federal Public Housing Assistance Household
Household of 4 earning $53,000 or less a year
Recipient of the Women, Children and Infant Benefit
Participant in Tribal Programs for Residents on Qualifying Tribal Lands 
Recipient of the Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance 
Recipient of Tribal TANF 
Participant in Tribal Head Start (must meet relevant income qualifying standard) 
Recipient of a Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations
